The garage door stops being a barrier and becomes a wall that breathes. Cut a pattern, hang a planter, let the door grow.
Most garage doors are the part of the house nobody looks at twice. Rocco Roncuzzi treated his as a canvas — a Garage Auto Door Wall Garden: a laser-cut, CAD-driven pattern turned into a vertical living surface, built custom for one door, one wall, one home.
The Object
A sectional garage door, reimagined. Instead of a flat panel, its surface carries an intricate repeating pattern — leaves, vines, geometric perforations drawn in CAD and cut with a laser. The cut-outs aren't decoration alone: they become the structure for a living wall, with small planters seated in the openings so greenery grows through the pattern.
The door stays a door. The pattern just makes it alive.

Four words describe the whole build:
- CAD — the pattern is drawn parametric, so it can be tuned to the door's exact panel dimensions.
- Laser-cut — the pattern is cut cleanly into the panel material, edges sharp, repeat perfect.
- Pattern — the motif (botanical + geometric) is the product; it carries the identity.
- Custom — made for one specific door. Not a catalogue item; a one-off.
This is Physical Virtuality from the maker's side: design it in CAD, cut it on site, plant it in situ. The same loop the studio chases at scale, here in a single garage.
Why a Garage Door
Because it's the largest unused wall most homes own. Turning it into a garden recovers dead surface — sound-dampening, cooling, and a daily reason to look at the thing you usually just open and forget. Pattern is what makes it worth looking at.
In Context
